New Project-Nature

In this new project I got placed in a group with Dando, and Janick. For this project we have the task of 'Introducing Nature'

Introducing 'Nature'-Introduce, via a deranged process, a presence referring to nature or the natural world without representing it.

This took a while for each member to rack their head around but we came up with some ideas that we think do exactly what the pharse intitles.

Goal reached

I believe we reached our goal for this task. Our pyramid was large scale which took space from the normal foot traffic that would usually accumulate in that area, this also made the piece forcefully interactive, as students and tutors would have to re-route there path in order to move around it. Even though we used wrapped wool around the pyramid, instead of the 2D panels that we initially planned,  I believe we still accomplished what we had planned to do by taking volumetric space away from F-block.

Sculpture

As our first ideas of the sculpture did not pan out we decided to go with another idea, that was a lot more simple but still gave the idea of taking volumetric space away from F-block. This idea came about with frustration. Because we had spent more time than we planned trying to work with the 2d panels we decided to move on, still keeping the pyramid theme, we ended up wrapping wool around the boundaries instead of the panels. These are some images.

Task

Our group, meet up on a Wednesday afternoon to put our project together. We started by cutting out 4 triangles from cardboard to form a pyramid that was going to be placed at the top of our sculpture. After hanging that from the ceiling, we measured out the base and ran a nylon fishing line from each bottom corner of the triangle to the ground. We then attempted to cut random pieces of cardboard out for our 2d panels then tie them with the fishing line to the top pyramid. THIS DID NOT WORK!
We then attempted to place several lines from the top of the sculpture to the ground and then place the 2d panels on top of the line. this was also an issue, and did not go well.
These are some images of the days process.

Concept

This is a concept drawing I drew to show the rest of the group how the project will look like once completed.

Volumetric space

This task was to create a piece of work that uses volumetric space within the f-block. First we had a group brainstorm allowing us to come up with some ideas to produce this piece of work. We first came up with an idea for small 3d pyramids hanging from the ceiling to create a larger 3d pyramid.
These are some of the quick sketch's we had drawn up for this project.
